Hey, everyone. Welcome to Jambo's third Phile written exclusively for Happle (no-one else wants it!)
Here, I am going to describe how to steal internet access from friends and colleagues. First of all, you need to have access to that person's computer; this cannot be done remotely (well, maybe it can but I don't know how). So, delay them by asking for coffee or something and go to work.
It's a good idea to know a little about their machine before trying the attack, like what security measures they use and what internet they have - by this I mean open transport or MacTCP. In this phile I will only describe how to steal OT access as I haven't tried it on MacTCP. If anyone needs to know, mail me at <Jambo@Yewclark.demon.co.uk> and I will write it in a future issue.
Right oh, bypass their security and get into their PPP control panel. You should see something like this:

only without the blurring. Firstly, right down the following:
•Name (this is their username, not their real name)
•Number (the phone number their modem dials)
Then go to the options screen and write down:
•Alternative number (in redialling) which is what the modem dials if the main number is engaged
Okay, now go into their TCP/IP control panel and copy down:
•IP address
•Subnet mask (note if it is to be provided by server)
•Router Address (as above)
•Name server address(s)
•And note how it is configured
Well, now you have their dial-ups and usernames. But, I hear you say, I couldn't get their password! Well, I had hoped to give you a sure-fire hacking method of hacking it but you can bugger me with a bargepole if I can decrypt the password from Internet Preferences (STR# resource with configuration name string#6 on my machine) so if anyone could tell me how I would be eternally grateful.
To get the password, you will have to do a bit of social engineering. The way I got my account was to help my mate set up his internet account on the day he got it. That way, he told me the passwords and dial-ups and I input them into his computer (and wrote them down of course!). The only thing I can suggest is be inventive. If they trust you, you should get it out of them in the end.
